The 2025 AFL season was set to kick off with Brisbane vs. Geelong at the Gabba. However, due to Cyclone Alfred, two matches were postponed. Now, Sydney vs. Hawthorn will officially open the season, with only two games scheduled for the Opening Round.

Friday, March 7 – Sydney vs. Hawthorn

Team News:

  • Sydney will be without Callum Mills (foot) and Errol Gulden (ankle) for the first few weeks. Brodie Grundy needs to pass a fitness test.
  • Hawthorn’s Changkuoth Jiath and Mitch Lewis will miss early games. Calsher Dear is also being managed through the start of the season.
