Boots Recalls Paracetamol Due to Labelling Error – Check Your Pack Now!

Boots has issued an urgent recall of its 500mg paracetamol tablets after a labelling error incorrectly stated they were aspirin.

The affected packs have batch number 241005 and an expiry date of 12/2029 (printed on the bottom of the packaging). Over 110,000 packs are impacted by this error.

What’s Wrong With the Packaging?

  • The outer box correctly states: “Paracetamol 500mg Tablets”
  • The inner foil blister pack incorrectly reads: “Aspirin 300mg Dispersible Tablets”

What Should You Do?

  • Stop using the product immediately.
  • Return it to any Boots store for a full refund, even if you don’t have a receipt.
  • If you bought this product for someone else, inform them right away.

Health Risks & Advice

Dr. Stephanie Millican, from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), emphasized that patient safety is the top priority:

“Check the batch number on your Boots Paracetamol 500mg Tablets 16s. If it’s 241005, stop using it and return it to Boots for a refund.”

If you have already taken the tablets and experience any side effects, seek medical advice and report issues via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Paracetamol vs. Aspirin: Key Differences

  • Paracetamol: Often recommended for headaches, toothache, sprains, and stomach aches.
  • Aspirin: May be more effective for period pain or migraines. It also reduces inflammation and fever.

Boots and its supplier, Aspar Pharmaceuticals Limited, are conducting a full investigation into the issue.

⚠️ Check your pack today and return it if affected!
