Delta Air Lines has released details about the crew members aboard the flight from Minneapolis that crashed and overturned at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday.

According to officials, the captain was originally hired by Mesaba Airlines in October 2007. Following Mesaba’s merger with Pinnacle Airlines in 2012, he became part of Endeavor Air, a Delta subsidiary that operated the flight to Toronto. In addition to serving as an active-duty captain, he has experience in pilot training and flight safety.

CBS News reports that the first officer graduated from a university with a respected aviation program, allowing her to begin working under a Restricted Air Transport Pilot certificate with fewer than 1,500 flight hours. She surpassed the 1,500-hour mark and obtained her full Air Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate— the highest pilot certification in the U.S.—in January 2023. After completing her training last April, she has been flying for Endeavor Air.

Delta confirmed that her flight experience “exceeded the minimum requirements” set by federal regulations. A source familiar with the matter told CBS News that she successfully passed all check rides, with no red flags regarding her piloting skills.
