The Superior Court of Justice granted freedom to former councilman Gabriel Monteiro, who has been in prison since 2022, after being charged with the crime of rape. He was accused of raping a woman in July 2022, after leaving a nightclub and going to a friend’s house.

To leave prison, Monteiro will have to be monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet.

The victim claims that he locked the bedroom door, used a gun to embarrass her, and had violent sexual relations. In addition, he allegedly hit her in the face and threatened to beat her if she reacted.

The State Secretariat for Penitentiary Administration (Seap) reported that it received the release warrant early on the evening of this Friday (21) and is carrying out the procedures for Gabriel Monteiro to leave prison.

In addition to this action, the MPRJ had already reported Gabriel Monteiro in May 2023, for persecution and contempt of a superior; in June 2022, for harassing and sexually assaulting his former advisor; and in April 2022, for filming sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old teenager.In May 2024, Gabriel Monteiro was charged with abuse of authority for breaking into two shelters for vulnerable children. Monteiro entered the locations without authorization with the intention of recording videos for his social media.
