School Districts Announce Closures Amid Severe Weather Threat
Charleston, S.C. – Several Lowcountry school districts have announced closures for Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather, including high winds and potential tornadoes.
Charleston County School District, Berkeley County School District, and Dorchester District 4 have confirmed that schools will remain closed. Meanwhile, Dorchester District 2 and Learn4Life High School-Charleston will shift to eLearning procedures.
Colleton County and Orangeburg County School Districts are also canceling classes, with all extracurricular activities postponed. Beaufort County School District announced it would neither hold in-person classes nor eLearning sessions.
Officials warn of potential tornadoes, sustained winds of 36-46 mph, and gusts reaching 75 mph. Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will delay opening until 12:30 p.m.
Private institutions such as Palmetto Christian Academy and First Baptist School of Charleston have also announced closures.
Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
