Police Crack Down on Rising Towing Industry Violence
Authorities have been increasingly concerned about a surge in crimes associated with Toronto’s tow truck industry. In response, police launched a special task force in January to address the issue.
Data from last year revealed that 63 firearm-related incidents—including shootings—were tied to disputes within the towing sector. Alarmingly, these cases accounted for nearly 13 percent of all shootings reported in the city.
With violence continuing to escalate, law enforcement remains focused on dismantling criminal activities within the industry and ensuring public safety.
