Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently made a bold statement about his leadership, offering to step down if it would bring peace to Ukraine or secure the country’s membership in NATO. Speaking on the eve of the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Zelensky expressed his readiness to “give up” his leadership role in exchange for a peaceful resolution or NATO membership. He explained, “If to achieve peace you really need me to give up my post — I’m ready,” underscoring the importance of Ukraine’s security and its future within NATO. This declaration comes amid continued tensions surrounding Ukraine’s potential NATO membership, which has been a major point of contention between Kyiv and Moscow for years.
